There is no pathway to human beings other than that described in Genesis 1.
Haphazardly
The chemistry and physics do not exist, given the most favorable of reaction conditions, for the formation (self-assembly) of just a human protein, let alone a human being. A human protein requires an incredibly complex factory, in this case, the human cell for its manufacture. That the complex (human cell) must precede the simple (protein) is revolutionary, i.e., supernatural.
By Design
Those who argue against God as the Creator, are arguing against their own existence. The same argument holds for plants, birds, sea creatures, animals, and creepy crawly things. As indicated in Genesis 1:11-12; 21; 24-25, “…each according to their kinds” were Created. What this means is that complete botanical and biological systems (entities) were created as intact, fully functional organisms. Interestingly, in the beginning, all of the biological entities appear to have been vegetarians (Genesis 1:30), eating their genetic cousins (plants). This may have been the case until after the flood (“Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything” Genesis 9:3).
Human beings were created in the same way, as fully functional, reproducing organisms, AND in the image of their Creator (Genesis 1:26-27). Here, “image of” can mean more than just physically. It likely, also means with a soul (mind, will and emotion) and a spirit (conscience) consistent with the Creator’s. It is not clear whether animals have a spirit – perhaps just instincts. That humans are stamped with God’s imprimatur, is a clear reference to one’s innate sense of, for example, right vs wrong, good vs evil, etc.
Appearance
Physically speaking, that humans look as we do, poses an interesting question. Do we look the way we do, because that’s the way our preincarnate Creator, i.e., Jesus, looked? Or was Jesus born of human and Spirit, so he would look like humans, that we would better relate to both Him and His message of redemption? His Creation could have been totally supernatural, i.e., as some other-worldly, overwhelming entity, with a completely different life story. Somehow, I think the perfect Intelligent Designer, God the Father, got it just right with His Son.
Worldview
With the logic from above, we have landed at a Biblical worldview, based on the truth of the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16 & Hebrews 6:18). It is complete – it has something to say about the main tenets of life that every human faces – all that was, is or will be. Its teachings, are there to help us and show us the best path, not to burden us (“…His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world…” I John 5:3-4). In His Word and through the Holy Spirit, one can find the rest, hope, peace and joy that is endemic of life well lived, with purpose and passion.
Purpose
Our purpose is to acknowledge and accept the Creator, bring glory to Him for His Creation, and spend eternity in His presence. He gives each of us that free gift – we only have to choose it (Romans 10:9-10). He knows we will stumble along the way (1 John 1:9) as we do our best to follow His teaching from His Word. The core of this teaching is to (1), love Him (Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the “our” of Genesis 1:26-27), (2) love all humans, and (3) tell them of His free gift. SDG
